#MeetMDS: Karen

Meet Karen, our amazing designer! Karen has helped us create designs, including websites, logos, posters, and pitch decks, with some of our clients such as CanCan, Prime Fitness, and Kaspersky. She also helps the MDS team stay away from non-dairy creamers, search for delicious food spots, and looks out for small rocking horse chairs.

When was your best day at MDS?

Last year’s Christmas Eve. We had a Christmas party and did secret Santa at M on the Bund. Everyone received their favorite gift and went to the Christmas market. I got a popcorn machine!!

Another “best” day was when we moved offices. The office become bigger and there were available meeting rooms. It felt like a day of rebirth for MDS.

你觉得在 MDS 最美好的一天是什么时候？

去年的圣诞节前夕。 我们有一个圣诞派对，并在外滩上做了秘密圣诞老人。 每个人都收到了心仪的礼物，去了圣诞市集。 我收到一台爆米花机！！

还有就是搬办公室的那一天，办公室更大了，有会议室可以用了，感觉是MDS重生的一天。

What is on your bucket list?

• To eat all over Shanghai’s Bund 1 to Bund 18
• Open a homestay/youth hostel and sit inside and drink tea
• Become a digital nomad and travel while working
• Buy a small wooden rocking horse

你的人生愿望清单上有什么？

• 吃遍上海外滩1-18号
• 开家民宿或青旅，然后坐在里面喝茶
• 成为数字游民，边旅游边工作
• 买个小木马

What’s a restaurant you highly recommend in Shanghai?

Shanghai style Western food – Richard Restaurant (新利查西菜馆), which has been open for 80+ years

Fried stalls on the roadside. If you can find them (these are almost extinct because of the reorganization of the city): Youdunzi, Stinky Tofu, Fried Rice Cakes, Fried Sausages, Fried Chicken Hearts, Tenderloin

Breakfast shops near residential areas: rice cakes, fried dough sticks, salted soy milk, egg pancakes. . .

上海有什么餐厅是你最推荐的？

海派西餐（上海西餐) 新利查西菜馆，开了已经有八十多年了

路边的油炸小摊，如果你还能找到的话 （因为市容整顿，现在几乎灭绝了) : 油墩子，臭豆腐，炸年糕，炸香肠， 炸鸡心，里脊肉 （流口水）

居住区附近的早餐店: 糍饭糕，油条，咸豆浆，蛋饼。。。

If you won the lottery, what would you do?

I would live in the sky. When I have money, I can live inside a skyscraper. So when the sky is cloudy, it will seem like I’m living in the sky.

如果你中了彩票，你会怎么做？

住在天上。有钱了，我就可以住在摩天大楼里。所以阴天的时候 ，我就像住在天上一样。

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

I’ve thought it over, and I think teleportation has been a superpower I’ve been wanting since I was young. Hahaha. Wherever I want to go, the next second I’ll be there.

Because with teleportation, I can save a lot of time. I can go anywhere I want to go (the ends of the world, uninhabited islands, beaches, waves, the north and south pole … ). When I miss MDS, I can also appear in the office in the next second.

如果你可以拥有某种超能力，它会是什么？

想来想去，瞬移是我从小的就想拥有的超能力哈哈哈（即想到什么地方去，下一秒就出现在那个地方）

因为有了它，可以节省超多的时间，可以去到任何想去的地方，（天涯海角，无人岛，沙滩，海浪，南北极… ）想MDS的时候也可以下一秒就出现在办公室。
